My thoughts on the Lakeland Florida Outpouring…

I want everyone to know right off the bat.

I FULLY ENDORSE THIS OUTPOURING/REVIVAL. (or whatever you want to call it)

Now, on with the show.

While I am unashamedly charismatic and I am hungry for a real move of God to sweep our nation. I also am skeptical at the same time. I have seen people who are products of the last move of God whether it be Brownsville, Toronto, or any other move of God, who try to mimic the Holy Spirit’s work in that movement and thereby utterly destroy the effects of the move of God. I wasn’t so sure about the Toronto Blessing with all the holy laughter and the lights and all that, heck I’ve seen the pictures. But, here’s my stance for this revival… Satan doesn’t heal, Satan doesn’t bless, God doesn’t work through false prophets on this scale, and there is absolutely no way Satan could be anywhere in this revival simply because it’s causing people to look at Jesus.

Now say what you want to about Todd Bentley, he’s a brother and I lift him up to God in prayer and blessing. I bless Todd Bentley and most importantly, I thank God for what he is doing through Todd Bentley. There are few people who can deal with the glory of God, man’s criticism, and everything that a revival entails and not go insane. When you really think about it a revival is God’s judgement on his church and his judgement on his prophets. One because God judges his people by his blessing judging for them and voicing his approval. Two, he judges his prophets by blessing them with his glory and he tests them with the pressures of leading moves such as the one that is going on in Florida.

As far as the ones who speak negatively of this move of God. We need to realize two things. One, we don’t know how God moves and we don’t know who God is going to move through. The fact is for many of these cult watcher groups, their prophets are all dead. They can’t trust anybody alive to bear the oracle of God besides themselves. When God chooses people like Todd Bentley to lead a revival, we need to realize one thing. God has no choice to choose weak and broken vessels like Todd… we are all weak and broken. Two, when someone like Todd is raised up to such a platform as he is on now, ALL of his many faults and past (who doesn’t have one) is put on display for the whole world to see. I promise you that if he were to put you or me on that same platform, we would be just as faulty and just as displayed and we would be found just as dirty.

Our responsibility as the body of Christ is to lift Todd in prayer. We do not need to be shooting him for what God is doing. We need to realize that we need to be seekers of truth. not seekers of deception because if all we are looking for is the bad we give place in our lives for the enemy to put in us a critical spirit. When you have a critical spirit your discernment goes to zero. We need to repent for critical spirits and ask the Lord to have his way and trust his Holy Spirit to lead us. We need to look for God in this thing and if we don’t then we keep looking for God we don’t just rant and rail about how God isn’t in it. If people are experiencing God and getting healed then how can it not be of God? If it’s not for you, then go seek for the truth. Because if all you are concerned is with deception then it will become your God.

I bless you all and I pray that the Lord Jesus Christ would give you all wisdom and knowledge and discernment that you may approve the things that are excellent and that you would be filled with all the fruits of righteousness. Wisdom and Revelation in the knowledge of God in Jesus name, Amen.

  2. Excellent! Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I’ve been to Lakeland and there is no question in my mind that Jesus is being lifted up without compromise. I’ve been more devoted to the Word and passionate for the Lord since.

  6. I don’t doubt that Toronto wasn’t of God, but there are things that go on … i know many people who think it’s still going on… It was God while it lasted… but it is over…

I was a little skeptical about it but God had to teach me a little lesson… he is a glad God…

  8. As I noted on my blog, I see Todd as a genuine, sincere man. I agree that we can’t be too quick to criticize. Are there some problems there? Sure. As the previous commenter said, revivals are always messy affairs.

  10. Hey bro,

I’ve been saying the same thing — Satan can’t heal. He can fake it by not attacking your body, but he cannot bring the kind of instant restoration we’ve been seeing at this revival, let alone the resurrections.

That said, I do have some concerns with the revival and the prophetic movement as a whole. I would sum them all up by saying that I pray that the Lord would bring us all into a greater purity in the anointing — that we would be pursuing Him and His heart as our primary desire. We have no lack of fivefold gifts in the body of Christ (more or less)… but I feel that there is a tremendous lack of the Mary of Bethany type… the lovesick worshipper that does not bring attention to themselves.

  11. Matthew 7
15 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. 16 You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? 17 Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Therefore by their fruits you will know them.

21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’

24 “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: 25 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.
26 “But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: 27 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.”

I haven’t been to Lakeland Florida so I can’t say but I will say this…the Word says that people who cast out demons and people who do many wonders all in Jesus’ name will be cast out because they do not know Jesus. Any people who claim to be Christians must align themselves with the Word of God. The fruit of the Spirit is the real result of revival. What fruit is coming out of this revival? Is Jesus being lifted up or are people establishing thier own name? Is love, joy, peace, patiences, kindness, gentleness and long-suffering showing in the lives of the people who visit there? Or is it about someone raising alot of $$ ?

I don’t have the answers but I think that even our enemy can perform some “miracles”. How are these things building God’s kingdom?

  12. Well, to the naysayers… He may not be OUR choice to lead this revival… he is by far the worst dressed revivalist I have ever seen, so, with that in mind we should be rejoicing that God would choose such a man to lead such a move of God as this…

besides, if this were about money, then for those watching the revival, why isn’t he talking about money more?

Grace, have you watched the revival yet? if you haven’t then you are grossly mistaken on who is being exalted at Lakeland. There are many reasons that I would call this revival legitimate..

    1. the Healings… the resurrections, those are not fake… Todd is meticulous in documenting healings and such.

    2. He has emphasized time and time again that it’s not about him or money… he has said time and time again that when the glory isn’t there, he’s gone

    3. We have been praying for revival with healing miracles signs and wonders for years and when one comes around, what do we do? accuse the minister of being a false prophet and faking everything and deceiving the masses. If that were the case then do what a CHRISTIAN does… PRAY FOR THE MAN… PRAY FOR THE TRUTH…

The reality is that Todd Bentley would be our last choice to lead a revival… he has tattoos, piercings and he doesn’t even dress like a revivalist… but the proof is in the pudding… God is healing, touching people, saving souls and it’s obvious that the religious would be offended that it’s Todd… he defies all tradition, breaks all the rules that we have made up…

    Todd Bentley is GOD’S Choice… not ours…

  13. Grace, the enemy can preform miracles… but NONE OF THEM EXALT JESUS… nor does Satan heal the body… for the enemy has come to kill, steal, and destroy, but I have come to give you LIFE and LIFE MORE ABUNDANTLY…

the reality is Jesus does care about the human body, or else why would he spend so much time healing people who were desperate for healing… why would healing be a sign of the kingdom? Satan wants to destroy our bodies, not heal them…

  15. Tim, I didn’t say anything negative about Todd Bentley…read again. I’m just quoting the Word and saying, test the spirit. I’m not on either side. I am advising (endorsing) caution. I believe real true revival can happen.

You said he isn’t talking about money much…why talk about money at all?

  16. The very same reason a church talks about tithing… you need money to run a church let alone a revival… Money is an unavoidable subject, it’s a valuable resource… but it’s only a tool…
